This is a wonderful old puzzle by Jumbo that is very hard to find now. It represents the Sham Fight on the River Y, by Abraham Storck. In the 17th century such sham fights took place on the River Y as amusement for distinguished guests of the city of Amsterdam. This particular painting shows a sham fight held in 1697 to welcome Peter the Great of Russia. The Russian frigate partaking in the show has a white-blue-red flag with a crowned eagle. You can admire the original painting at the National Maritime Museum, in Amsterdam.
The puzzle is COMPLETE, as you can see in the photographs of the assembled puzzle. The puzzle is stored in layers inside the box. The pieces are in excellent, like new, condition. The box is in very good condition, although it has some wear and three tears on the corners of the lid that have been taped.
Ravensburger published in 1974 a 1500 piece version of The Four Days’ Battle, also by Abraham Storck.
