Educa manufactured this beautiful puzzle in 2003. The title is Langlois Bridge at Arles, by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh.
The puzzle is NEW, with its original FACTORY SEAL.
Vincent van Gogh is one of the most popular painters. Some of his works have reached record auction prices in recent years. Due to his popularity, his paintings are always a good choice among puzzle manufacturers. It is difficult to think of any of his masterpieces without a puzzle version. In fact, Educa even issued a 5000 puzzle with a collage of several of his works.
Several paintings of the Langlois Bridge
The bridge is actually the subject of four oil paintings, one watercolor, and four drawings by Van Gogh. It seems that a drawbridge over a canal, reminded him of his homeland in the Netherlands. Furthermore, he asked his brother Theo to frame and send one of the paintings to an art dealer in the Netherlands. So, there is a reason why this bridge is now named Pont Van Gogh, or Van Gogh Bridge, although it is actually a reconstruction.
Van Gogh was 35 when he made the Langlois Bridge paintings and drawings. Living in Arles, in southern France, he was at the height of his career, producing some of his best work. It was a prolific time for Van Gogh, because in less than 15 months he made about 100 drawings, produced more than 200 paintings and wrote more than 200 letters.
The painting is exceptional and the puzzle is a delight. It has contrasting colors and a lot of details. For that reason it is easy to assemble.
The German brand Ravensburger released in 2015 a 3000 piece puzzle with a different painting of the Langlois Bridge.
